SCA Logistics Sundsvall

Pinja created a simulation model of the terminal, including processes, warehouses, and handling and storage logics

Smooth transition

SCA wanted to make sure that the transition progressed smoothly. Pinja was chosen as the project partner based on previous successful collaboration.

Current status

A model was created of the terminal that describes its current status, from which results were drawn with the help of historical data.

Combined data

The simulation model of the future terminal was combined with the future-oriented data.

We are extremely happy with the simulation project, and the cooperation in general.

The challenge: Ensuring a smooth terminal operations transition at the Sundsvall port terminal of SCA Logistics

To meet the emerging challenges, the operations and terminal layout at the Sundsvall port terminal of SCA Logistics needed to be reorganised. SCA wanted to make sure that the massive transition progressed smoothly. The key issues were related to storage capacity, equipment and process capacity, and shift arrangements. Pinja was chosen as the project partner based on previous successful collaboration between the two companies.

The solution: Pinja created a simulation model of the terminal, including processes, warehouses, and handling and storage logics

Pinja created a simulation model of the terminal, including processes, warehouses, and handling and storage logistics. SCA generated the initial data to predict the future volumes.

At first, a model was created of the terminal that describes its current status, from which results were drawn with the help of historical data to verify the validity of the model. In the next stage, the simulation model of the future terminal was combined with the future-oriented data.

The SCA Logistics team was happy with the collaboration, the project implementation, and the results. Feedback received from the SCA Logistics project team:
“We are extremely happy with the simulation project, and the cooperation in general.”
“The project was a complete success.”
“The simulation laid a strong foundation for future decisions made in the project.”
“The received results were extremely important to us.”
