The Finnish Association of People with Physical Disabilities (FPD) is a nation-wide multi-disciplinary association engaged in advocacy and service provision for people with physical disabilities. FPD advances and develops the opportunities of people with physical disabilities or functional impairments to participate, move around and live independent and good life.
Altogether, the project was a great success and the objectives set at the beginning were achieved – even ahead of schedule.
The cooperation with Pinja had started earlier, but in 2019 FDB contacted Pinja for support in selecting and implementing new type of technology. FPD needed an effective basic office environment agreeing with the convergent architecture and serving the purposes of the association. This meant, inter alia, replacing the existing Notes/Domino system for email and calendar purposes with another technology.

The target of the project was to select modern and easily accessible tools for FPD to help each employee find the necessary information quickly and in a timely manner. In addition, it was necessary to concurrently develop the culture of sharing and teamwork, effortlessly and simultaneously with the introduction of the new tools.
Because of the large amount of users (circa 2000), the project was carried out in steps. Altogether, the project was a great success and the objectives set at the beginning were achieved – even ahead of schedule. As the most important achievements of the project FDP’s ICT expert Sami Savero sees the operating culture change, enabled and supported by “single source” tools. Microsoft’s own tools suit together in a quite different way than the software applications used earlier.
Altogether, the migration was an expected and desired change in the entire group. Pinja was also highly praised as project implementer.
