Scaling inspections without losing customer focus

Carspect challenged traditional vehicle inspection competitors by focusing on customer convenience: smaller, modern stations in accessible locations, making inspections as easy as a shopping trip. This customer-first approach drove rapid growth, but it created operational complexity.

Opening an average of 10 new stations per year across four countries with different regulatory requirements meant the company needed systems that could scale efficiently. The old inspection system, website, and ERP could no longer support the demands of thousands of daily inspections whilst maintaining the consistent, high-quality customer experience that defined Carspect's competitive advantage.

To continue growing without losing what made them different, Carspect needed a specialised solution that could handle the entire customer journey — from online booking and prepayment through to real-time inspection data entry and clear, tactful customer reporting — all whilst adapting to each country's statutory requirements.

In 2019, Carspect completed a comprehensive renewal of all information systems, moving everything to the cloud. They selected Muster by Pinja as their core operational platform after evaluating multiple options, choosing the solution for its low long-term operating costs and Pinja's commitment to being a long-term development partner.

Muster isn't a generic ERP adapted for inspections — it's purpose-built for vehicle inspection operations. The system handles the complete workflow: online booking, resource allocation, cash operations, real-time mobile inspection data entry, regulatory reporting, customer data management, billing, and comprehensive analytics.

 

The browser-based system works seamlessly on smartphones, allowing inspectors to record inspections, capture photographs, and document results in real time. This mobility is essential for Carspect's fast-paced operations, where thousands of inspections happen daily.

Pinja quickly adapted Muster to meet Sweden's statutory reporting requirements. The partnership has expanded beyond the inspection system to include data warehousing and Power BI-based information management solutions that support Carspect's operations across all four countries: Sweden, Estonia, Poland, and Latvia.

The SaaS-based service model keeps the cost structure efficient and eliminates the need for heavy IT infrastructure at each new station, making rapid expansion financially viable.
