Securing IT operations for a business that can't afford downtime
Recion's work sites are often located in remote or demanding environments: power plants, industrial facilities, and project sites scattered across Europe. Reliable network connectivity and secure devices are not optional; they are prerequisites for getting the job done.
With a small in-house IT team of two people, Recion needed a partner that could provide broad technology expertise and sufficient capacity for both day-to-day problem-solving and longer-term development. Deep knowledge of the company's business-critical HCL systems, built up over decades, was equally essential.
In autumn 2023, Recion reviewed its IT services and sought a new provider capable of delivering a full range of ICT services centrally, with professional depth across all relevant technologies.
A comprehensive ICT partnership: from infrastructure to HCL development
Recion selected Pinja as its ICT partner at the end of 2023. The scope of services is broad: internet and telecommunications services, centralised firewall management and network device administration, capacity services, server maintenance, workstation management, admin-level support, and end-user support assistance. In addition, Pinja acts as the development and maintenance partner for Recion's business-critical HCL systems, and as a licence partner for both HCL and Microsoft technologies.
A key factor in choosing Pinja was its deep HCL expertise. Recion has built tailored, business-critical systems on HCL technology over decades, and these systems play a central role in product prefabrication and operational continuity. Pinja's status as a Fortinet partner was equally important, given that Recion's network services are largely built on Fortinet technology.
The transition from the previous provider was completed in approximately two and a half months — on time, on budget, and without a single disruption to daily operations.
Lower risk, stronger operations, and a partner that feels like part of the team
Since the transition, Pinja has become an integral part of Recion's operations, not as an external supplier but as an extension of the internal team. Recion's IT Director values this distinction: open, two-way communication means Pinja's experts are kept in the loop on the same things as internal staff, which makes collaboration genuinely productive.
Updates and development work carried out with Pinja have reduced security risk by bringing both hardware and software up to date. Key-person dependency has also been eliminated: Recion's team always has Pinja's specialists available, regardless of holidays, sick leave, or fluctuating resource needs.
Pinja also modernised Recion's site network architecture into a standardised solution that can be deployed at project sites anywhere in the world, enabling reliable and secure connectivity for workers on location. The licence partnership has brought further cost efficiency, ensuring Recion only pays for what it actually needs.
