Visma is a Nordic company providing various financial administration and enterprise resource planning solutions. It includes solutions for project and customer management, working hours monitoring, invoicing and reporting. ValueFrame has more than 13,000 end users all over the world.
Cooperation with Pinja dates back to the foundation years of ValueFrame, as Pinja has been responsible for the maintenance of the support services, software development and cloud platform of the system from the very outset.
On the whole, the migration project took less than two years with the journey including both great successes and unexpected challenges. In total, more than 600 databases were migrated to the cloud platform and the old system was run down completely.

Cooperation with Pinja dates back to the foundation years of ValueFrame, as Pinja has been responsible for the maintenance of the support services, software development and cloud platform of the system from the very outset. When the decision was made to migrate ValueFrame to a public cloud platform, it was only natural to select Pinja as the partner.
– We wanted a public cloud platform that offers different scaling possibilities and automation, which were not possible in our old model. The general opinion of the entire Visma group is that a public cloud offers the best tools for ensuring a good customer experience, Visma’s Product Owner Riitta Kemppainen describes the background of the migration project. Amazon Web Services or AWS was selected as the cloud platform.
The new platform was designed from the outset in close cooperation with Pinja’s cloud technology specialists. On the whole, the migration project took less than two years with the journey including both great successes and unexpected challenges.
In total, more than 600 databases were migrated to the cloud platform and the old system was run down completely.
– A very delightful thing in this project was the agility and collaboration that the entire team showed to solve these problems. We pulled together and worked hard to deal with all challenges, Riitta Kemppainen describes the progress of the project.
The biggest effect of the cloud migration has been seen in the operating procedures of Visma’s IT team. The new environment has made it necessary to change familiar operating procedures and introduce automation. Above all, however, the public cloud has enabled a new kind of agility, management and scalability, as well as the courage to try new features. It has also been possible to present a new practical plan to Visma for the future development of the platform to make the most of AWS. According to Pinja’s specialist Masi Hast, continued optimization of the system will also bring cost savings in the future. As a benefit of cloud services, he highlights their reliability and availability enabled by global service providers.
– Cooperation with Pinja is absolutely smooth, open, and honest on both sides. We can tell them directly where we stand and what we want and brainstorm together to further develop the product, Riitta Kemppainen says. According to her, Pinja’s expertise and technical knowhow played a significant role throughout the entire project.
– You can always trust that Pinja gets the job done and knows how to successfully carry the project through, she summarizes.
Riitta Kemppainen wants to encourage others who consider a cloud migration:
– Be brave and migrate to a public cloud platform. It will probably be a rocky road but the result will be extremely rewarding. A public cloud offers lots of possibilities.
