The Once system will facilitate unloading operations in the truck waiting area

Pinja will deliver a Once material monitoring system to UPM’s Chudovo plywood mill in Russia. The plywood mill in Chudovo receives dozens of log loads a day. The Once system will facilitate unloading operations in the truck waiting area and ensure that goods are received in the correct order.

The solution will automate receipt of logs, saving time and releasing human resources to other tasks. The delivery also includes a camera monitoring system that facilitates the claim settling procedure. The camera catches any quality defects in each log unloaded on the sorting table enabling identification of defects at a later stage.

“Previously, Once information management systems have mainly been used for fuel load management of CHP plants. Now, its features are configured to also suit plywood mill environments. The solution scheduled for delivery in the autumn is the first of its kind for this type of mill environment and opens doors to further important developments”, explains Hannu Lepola from Pinja.
