The Pinja Sustainability Report 2024 is now published. It highlights how we are shaping a more sustainable world together with our customers and partners through concrete action, measurable results, and forward-looking goals.
2024 was a year of transformation and growth for Pinja. We expanded internationally, strengthened our internal culture, and accelerated the use of artificial intelligence, both in our own operations and in our customer solutions. At the same time, we paused to clarify our strategic direction and reinforce our shared values. Every employee took part in this process, and through open dialogue we defined how we want to work and collaborate moving forward.
Sustainable growth and tangible impact
The year was marked by economic and geopolitical uncertainty, intensified competition, and international market volatility. This uncertainty impacted our operations as well. However, our strong strategy and long-term development efforts have enabled us to maintain stable growth and profitability at a healthy level, demonstrating the resilience of our business.
We made significant progress in our sustainability work. For example, we transitioned to carbon-neutral data centers and upgraded our office heating systems to more environmentally friendly solutions. These actions enabled a substantial reduction in our direct emissions. However, the majority of our total emissions still come from indirect sources (Scope 3), particularly from business travel, which increased due to our expanding international operations. Moving forward, we will place even greater focus on this area and seek ways to reduce our climate impact.
AI accelerating sustainability
Artificial intelligence has become a central enabler of more sustainable business. Our AI-powered solutions streamline processes, reduce waste, and optimize the use of energy and materials. These solutions also improve forecasting, resource planning, quality, and traceability.
In 2024, we implemented AI-based solutions in close cooperation with several of our customers. For example, our work with Helen, Carspect, and multiple food industry clients has enabled more precise reporting, greater process transparency, and faster decision-making powered by smart data.
People and values at the core
The Pinja story is above all a story of people and our talented professionals across the organization. At the end of 2024, we employed 529 people, and our Overall Employee Experience rating reached 4.1/5, reflecting strong commitment and well-being.
Sustainability is deeply embedded in our daily work. Flexible work models, continuous learning, and a strong sense of community support employee well-being and motivation. We also made progress in diversity: 24% of our new hires were women, marking an important step toward a more balanced gender ratio in the tech industry.
Sustainability reporting – a responsibility and a tool for growth
In 2024, we also invested in developing our sustainability reporting. As our operations expand and become more international, expectations from customers, partners, and regulators are increasing. At the same time, we want to better understand and track our own impact in a systematic way.
