Kalavapriikki, an ambassador for quality fish and sustainable food culture, acquired the Gema by Pinja production monitoring system in the spring of 2024. Kalavapriikki, part of Heino Group, specializes in processing and selling Finnish fish, and its strategy is to promote the use of Finnish fish in its home market. The implementation of a new system is an essential part of this strategy.

According to CEO Jari Korhonen, Kalavapriikki has grown significantly in recent years, and the use of the Gema system supports this growth by providing up-to-date information to increase production efficiency and improve quality.

– Competition in the food industry is fierce, and new innovative products are constantly introduced. Everything that’s happening in the world affects our production, but we believe that the demand for Finnish fish will continue to grow in the coming years. However, we need a system to achieve this growth. A system that will help us improve the efficiency of our production by, among other things, increasing the utilization of our machines and supporting operators in quality assurance tasks.

According to Korhonen, Gema is a significant digital leap for Kalavapriikki, guiding and promoting knowledge management and development rather than relying on spreadsheets.

– The system provides accurate and up-to-date information that helps us anticipate future needs and investments. The data can also be used for maintenance, as the machine and equipment usage data are securely stored in the system.

Korhonen says that Kalavapriikki’s goals matched Pinja’s solutions from the start, and that the project has been a breeze so far.

– We are satisfied with our cooperation with Pinja. We looked at other alternatives, but Gema offered everything we needed – a complete, easy-to-deploy system that supports our growth.
