Unico

Unico wanted to modernize its reporting and decided to go with Pinja's Power BI solution.

The cooperation in brief

Project launch

Unico wanted to renew its reporting. The Power-BI solution provided by Pinja was selected as suitable.

Step by step

The initial definition was largely based on what reports already existed, but more reports were quickly added, step by step as needed.

Interactive reports

The interactive Power BI reports that Unico use are located in Microsoft 365 and work quickly and reliably in a browser, tablet, and phone, regardless of time and place.

Now we can see the raisins in the bun from the data mass.

Pasi Saarinen, CEO, Unico Finland Oy

The project has progressed rapidly and we have gained an appetite for more

In four months, the project has moved forward quickly and smoothly using an iterative model. The initial definition was largely based on what was in QlikView, but our hunger for more data has brought things much further than that. We now have reports available in five different areas: Management, Sales, Production, Warehouse, and HR.

For example, HR reports now automatically show flex-periods, sickness absence rates and temporary worker cost adjustments, among other things. This eliminates a lot of manual entries, saving time and money alike. Inventory reports can, for example, be used for monitoring stock levels and optimizing existing square meters and cubic meters for better use with products that circulate fastest and are most profitable. In production, it is possible to monitor, for example, security of supply. In addition, a real-time Power BI metrics data display has been added to the factory, providing daily, weekly and monthly completion percentages by manufacturing lines. This enables the employees to see where they are going in relation to the target. The dispatch center will also be equipped with a cubic meter display, showing the day’s performance against the target in real time.

Saarinen says that it’s good to move the project forward in phases: “As we have seen new information, new ideas for improving our operations have emerged all the time. We have been very happy with both the cooperation and the solution.”

Power BI has surprised us with its dexterity

Interactive Power BI reports in Microsoft O365 work quickly and reliably in a browser, on a tablet or phone, regardless of time and place. For example, when visiting a customer, salespeople can now easily see all their essential information on a single screen.

“Now we can see the relevant points from the mass of data. Even if the same information existed somewhere previously, it’s as if the information is better and different when it’s presented properly. Another positive surprise was how easy it is to create Power Bi reports yourself” Saarinen says.
