Urjalan Makeistukku’s main idea at the time of establishment in 1991 – to provide sweets to everyone at wholesale prices – will continue to guide the company’s operations. Low prices and fast deliveries are attracting more and more visitors to Urjalan Makeistukku’s eCommerce and brick-and-mortar each year. Today, Urjalan Makeistukku’s eCommerce is significantly large online candy store, and more than half of the company’s turnover originates from online sales. In addition to sweets, the online store shelves also contain spices, natural products, sports nutrients and superfoods.
The cooperation with Pinja started in 2017, when Pinja’s eCommerce solution was selected.
With the introduction of the solution, the degree of automation in the supply chain has increased, and deliveries are now handled even more efficiently. The systems are agile in supporting new markets, and the expansion to international markets, for example, has been successful.

The eCommerce of Urjalan Makeistukku was opened in 2013, and the company has grown exponentially during the past few years. As the eCommerce grew and the order volumes multiplied, there were challenges in the supply chain and the company’s delivery capacity reached its limits.
More efficiency was needed in order processing and ERP. The old systems were reaching the end of their useful life and did no longer meet the development needs created by growth. Therefore, the goal was to modernize the eCommerce platform and find a system solution that allowed a smoother management of the supply chain from orders to inventory management.
The cooperation with Pinja started in 2017, when the Magento 2 eCommerce solution was selected. In choosing a partner, the size of the partner and good chemistry were regarded even more highly than the offered systems.
– There were several competing systems on offer, but Pinja had the required functionality. We found that they are a partner of the right size for us and are able to provide us all the products that we need. This ensured that the systems work together, explains Tero Mattila, IT Manager at Urjalan Makeistukku.

– Considering our resources, we are able to perform a lot of deliveries, which means that we have benefited from the systems. Platforms are now developed with the future in mind, which enables us to be prepared for future growth, Mattila says.
The systems are agile in supporting new markets, and the expansion to international markets, for example, has been successful. The cash register module of the ERP system has also enabled us to open additional points of sales, so we can open pop-ups, for example, with a low threshold.
– The introduction of a new point of sales was relatively easy, and we benefit from having a separate cash register in the pop-up store outside, which integrates into the system so well, Mattila says.
– We have had a lot of exceptional needs, and Pinja has always managed to tailor the right solution for us. In general, these systems have enabled our steady growth. It would have been impossible without them, Mattila says.
Solutions and operating models are also constantly being developed to make work more efficient and comfortable.
– We want to constantly optimize this relationship between man and machine.
Cooperation with Pinja is based on trust and effective communication.
– Effective communication is a crucial factor for us, and we have learned to understand each other’s perspectives with Pinja. They have knowledge of our backgrounds and they understand how and why we do things without having to justify them. This is definitely one of Pinja’s strengths, Mattila commends.
