Pinja has been selected to supply the maintenance management system for the vessel unit of the Finnish Border Guard. The supply includes a maintenance management system for the maritime patrol stations, all waterborne equipment, and the new patrol vessels of the Offshore Patrol Vessel 2025 project.

Finland has a challenging maritime environment and one of the busiest maritime regions in the world, which requires rapid response and continuous preparedness to ensure an adequate level of protection for people, property, and nature.

The newly acquired Novi maintenance system serves both the technical management of the Finnish Border Guard and the life cycle management  of vessels. The system provides a real-time snapshot of equipment availability, and guides daily maintenance activities and reporting in the field.

– The availability and reliability of the system is particularly important for patrol vessels, which are at sea more than 300 days a year. Despite the challenging conditions and the mobile operating environment, the maintenance and servicing of the equipment must be carried out in a planned manner, which requires the availability of the system, says Eppu Kuusela, Pinja’s Sales and Key Account Manager.

According to Kuusela, the strict security requirements of the Finnish Border Guard and the Government Security Network (TUVE) also substantially increase the level of requirements for delivery.

The main tasks of the Finnish Border Guard are, among other things, border surveillance, maritime rescue and environmental damage prevention, as well as military defense. At national level, these are significant tasks.

– In a changed world, the fact that we are trusted as a supplier of systems that ensure national security is a big vote of confidence in Pinja and our systems, Kuusela says.
