“The remote monitoring system created by Pinja provides the waste treatment business with a completely new way of thinking. Productivity of machines and the amount of waste processed can now be calculated directly in terms of money. With this, we have achieved advantage in negotiations, since other operators do not have a similar system that can convert the income and costs of a process into euros in real-time”, tells Petri Kuikka from Tana Oy.

The Challenge: Collection and utilization of real-time data

“The system produces real-time data, for example, regarding fuel consumption, employee costs and the amount of material processed by machines, i.e. the actual margin of the process. It also produces information for the purposes of preventive maintenance, such as the component wear status, for early identification of machine maintenance needs. Since this data is collected globally, “big data” can be analysed in a completely new scale”, Kuikka clarifies.

The remote monitoring system developed by Pinja can be utilised in many different mobile and fixed machines. For example, it can be used for monitoring ventilation equipment. No similar and as extensive systems are available from other suppliers. We introduced the system a couple of years ago and our customers have been very satisfied with it.

The way it creates value to our customers is completely unique in this industry. Now, customers can run their businesses based on exact figures. We selected Pinja as the data collection system supplier, because they had the best capabilities and knowhow to build, develop and maintain the entire system.
